As a result, brownies ended up really TOUGH!! We were unable to cut it in squares by using a knife and a sharp knife. So, we used a large metal salad spoon to scrap some crumbs.
I learned from a friend of mine that food with Gluten Free tend to be crunchy and "flat". So, she suggested for us to use apple sauce instead of vegetable oil, so it would make brownie a little more fluffy.
Actually, he had some tiny crumbs. He wanted to use an electric knife. I told him that I rather not since I don't want it to be damaged since brownie was so tough!
Of course I was not impressed. Sigh....
Guess what I did today?
After I was done with my appointment, I headed off to QFC... a food store in Edmonds. I browsed through a variety of cakes in the bakery department. I tried my best to decide of what kind of cake he would enjoy having.
So, I chose and bought a Triple Chocolate with chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream and it has flakes of chocolate on the top of the cake with some hot fudge. I think he will love it. It is probably best one instead of bearing with a really tough brownies.
So, it is a surprise for him. It's in the freezer.
I will see how he reacts when he sees his belated birthday cake.
